2026 Australian Deaf Games - July 20th to 26th

This major sporting event will bring more than a thousand deaf and hard-of-hearing athletes to the Sunshine Coast from around Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.

Volunteers are needed for a range of support roles. If you’d like to make the athletes and their families feel really welcome, register your interest today and together, let’s do something special for our community.

July

The next production of Lind Lane Theatre, “Hoovering on the Edge”,  promises to provide a good laugh, with sun, sand, shiraz and storytelling. Seven ladies embark on a writing course, holiday in Bali, and get more than they bargained for. Arts Connect Inc presents “Sense of Place”, an exhibition celebrating the stunning Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve, Maleny, from the 5th to 20th of July, from 10am to 3pm. Eight artists explore nature’s patterns, textures, and stories through paint, paper, bronze, and stone. Discover your own connection to the bush. Caloundra CWA ladies are an active community of women who together improve the lives of people living in regional, rural and remote Queensland. They are renowned for their great home cooking and handcrafts—but the QCWA is so much more than that. It’s about friendship, community and connecting . You are invited to their July monthly meeting, at 17 Kalinga Street Caloundra, on Wednesday the 9th of July commencing at 9.15am.

 Sunshine Coast Art Group is holding their Soup n Soul Art Market, at 1 William Parker Place, Buderim, off Syd Lingard Drive, on Saturday the 12th of July from 9am to 2pm. Pick a handmade bowl and a sumptuous soup, and they’re yours, all for just $20! The market will feature all things arty and crafty… plus live music, food and bargains galore.

The July concert of the Maroochy River Country Music Club will feature a Tribute to country great Merle Haggard. For some great music go along to the Hall of Fame, Steggalls Road, Yandina, on Sunday the 13th of July at 11am. CanSurvive Australia is hosting a discussion on how you could use your own energy systems for better health and wellbeing. Dr. John Moore will share his latest research on clearing blockages in the body to relieve pain and discomfort. Cooloola Coast Dances Group are holding an Old Time Christmas in July Dance, on Saturday the 19th of July, from 7 to 11pm, at the Belli Community Hall, 1170 Eumundi Kenilworth Road.  The Diddillibah Community Hall is hosting the Mid-Winter Bush Dance. On Saturday, the 19th of July commencing at 6pm. All the dances will be taught and called, with no experience needed, with music provided by the Billabong Bush Band. Food and soft drinks will be available. Cost is $15 adults, $5 children, $40 family. A great way to warm up in this chilly weather.

The Sunshine Coast Concert Band is presenting “Echoes of Yesterday”, at the Kawana Community Hall, Nanyima Street Buddina, on Saturday the 19th of July, from 2 to 4.30pm. The show will feature music from Tchaikovsky to Stevie Wonder. Featured soloists and ensembles include Vocalists, solo Saxophone and Clarinet, and their all-girl Trumpet trio. Cost is Adults $25, teens $10, kids 12yrs Free, which include afternoon tea.

The Sunshine Coast Jazz Club is hosting a tribute to Benny Goodman, with the Paul Hendon Sextet and interstate guests, on Sunday the 20th of July, at the Caloundra Power Boat Club. The Australiasian Country Music Association is hosting guest artists, the Dennis Sankey Duo, to their next concert on Sunday the 20th of July from 11am to 3pm, at the Hall of Fame, 24 Steggalls Road, Yandina. With their wide range of upbeat songs, you are guaranteed entertainment! Enjoy music from talented local artists backed by a great house band.  Entry is only $10.

 ArtsNational Sunshine Coast July Arts Talk, will be held in Lecture Theatre K1, at the UniSC, Sippy Downs Campus, on Sunday the 20th of July at 3pm. The topic will be “Meso-America – Maya: Children of the Corn” presented by Maria Chester. The event is free for Members, $25.00 for Visitors, and $10 for Students. Parking is free. Maleny Players will be staging “Purgatory”, at the Playhouse in the Maleny Showground, at evening and matinee performances, from Friday the 25th of July to Sunday the 3rd of August. This is a riotous black comedy, with a touch of drama, and a tinge of horror, set in a Sydney nursing home in 1997. Caloundra Quilters Biennial Show will be held at the Caloundra Arts Centre on the 26th and 27th of July, commencing at 9am each day. A variety of quilts will be on display, and visitors are invited to vote for their favourite quilt in each category. Entry is $5 and light refreshments will be available.  The Caloundra Repair Café workshop is open on Saturday the 26th of July, and thereafter on the last Saturday of each month, at the Caloundra Community Centre, 58A Queen Street, from 9am to midday.  Take along small household items such as small electrical, electronic, wooden, ceramic, glass, toys and clothes, for assessment and possible repair.  Enjoy a morning in the hinterland at the Mapleton Country Market in the School Carpark, on Saturday the 26th of July, from 8am to midday. There will be genuine bargains, as well as food trucks, pestos, gins, honey, sourdoughs, jams and chutneys. Who doesn't love waffles, hot food and a barista coffee!

 Yandina School of Arts is holding a Raise the Roof Fundraiser, on the 26th of July from 10am to 2pm, in the School of Arts Hall. There will be an exhibition of paintings, photographs, and sculpture. All works will be available for sale. The raffle prize is a donated artwork by Brett Henderson. Go along and be amazed at the work of local artists.

 Four Paws Animal Rescue is again holding “Santa Paws in the Park”, on Sunday the 27th of July, from 10am to 2pm, at Double Bay Park ,Kawana Island. This free, family friendly event, will bring together animal lovers, for a day of laughs, food, competitions, prizes and tail wags! Go along with your best “furry friend” and join in the fun!

Noosa Christian College is holding a Bush Dance and Country Fair at 20 Cooroy Belli Creek Road, Cooroy, on Sunday the 27th of July, from 2 to 7pm. Dance to the sounds of “The Smashing Bumpkins”: Ride the Sky Flyer, Cobra, and Merry-Go-Round, and check out the Warrior Obstacle Course, Super Sizzler, and Giant Slide. The Rides are open from 2 to 7pm and the Bush Dance starts at 5pm.

 Mapleton Bowls Club is holding a free Community Day, on Sunday the 27th of July, from 2 to 4pm. Everyone is invited to meet the local community groups, and discover what’s on offer in the district. There will be groups for Art, Craft, Mahjong, Probus, Range Community Gym, Montville History, Mapleton Choir, the Community Library, Mens’ Shed, Sunny Coast Fly Fishers and more.

 Sunny Coast Social Dance invite you to join them at the Millwell Road Community Centre, Maroochydore on Tuesday the 29th of July from 1 to 4pm for an afternoon social. They cater for a range of dance styles including Rock 'n' Roll, Sequence Partner, and Line dancing. BYO drinks and nibbles, and tea and coffee is provided. Cost is $10.  The FESTURI Multicultural Music and Dance Festival will be held at Buderim Village Park on Saturday the 9th of August from 10am to 4pm. Enjoy a spectacular day of world music, traditional dance, international food, kids' activities, and cultural craft stalls. This is a free, family-friendly event celebrating diversity and community. The Kidney Support Network provides transport services for kidney patients to and from hospital, for their dialysis treatments. They are in urgent need of volunteer drivers. Vehicles are provided, and are based in Currimundi and Maroochydore. They are Centrelink registered and meet volunteer requirements. The Bli Bli branch of the Country Women’s Association invites ladies of all ages to come along to their meetings at the Rural Fire Brigade on the corner of Lefores and Sports Road,.  You’ll be welcomed by friendly, like-minded women, enjoy a cuppa, learn new skills and most important of all, have some fun.  Bli Bli CWA meets 11:30 on the first Thursday of every month.

Mooloolaba Lions Club is celebrating 50 years of community service on the Sunshine Coast.  They would like to welcome you to their club and become part of a friendly group of volunteers who do so much good for our community.  From local fundraisers like the Fishermans Road Market, to global programs that combat combat cancer and diabetes, Mooloolaba Rotary can be a very rewarding experience.

The Noosaville VIEW Club is a warm, welcoming women’s group that meets twice a month on Thursdays. The second Thursday of the month is Friendship Day, where members get together for lunch. On the fourth Thursday, the club meets at the Tewantin RSL to discuss the progress of The Smith Family’s twelve Learning for Life students which the Club supports, followed by lunch. Enrolments are open for the Winter School of Visual Arts, to be held at the Buderim Craft Cottage, from the 5th to the 13th of July, from 9am to 4pm daily. There will be 14 workshops including watercolour, acrylic, mixed media, silversmithing, collagraphy, drawing, and calligraphy. Workshops will appeal to beginners and those more advanced. After 43 years supporting the local community, the Lions Club of Lake Currimundi-Kawana needs more members to enable them to continue. Over the last 2 years the Club supported 22 local projects and organisations with almost $16,000 in donations.  Among some of the many recipients of their support include Wishlist and Childhood Cancer Research, as well as bushfire relief and the ever popular Christmas Cakes.  The Caloundra Stamp Club meets on the fourth Thursday of each month  at 12.30pm, at Bellvista Meeting Place, 18 Lomond Crescent, Bellvista. Sunshine Coast Cars and Coffee is held on the first Saturday of each month, from 7 to 10am, at the Sir Henry Royce Foundation Showrooms, 52 Lysaght Street, Coolum. The Rolls Royce Museum will be open, with a guided tour of rare vehicles and notable engines, such as the famous Merlin aero engine. Enjoy a coffee and breakfast bun while you explore the exhibits.

The Probus Club of Currimundi Combined meets on the second Wednesday of each month, at the Caloundra Indoor Bowls Club, Bourke Street, Golden Beach. The meeting begins at 9am, allowing time to browse the many activities that the club has to offer. They include board games, book club, lunch and dinner outings, bus trips, walks and a guest speaker each month.

 If you would like to become involved with your local community, the Rotary Club of Buderim would like to hear from you.  The Club is involved in all the major events on the Buderim calendar as well as supporting local youth and those in need. The Sunshine Coast Computer Club offers weekly tutorials on making the most of your smartphones, tablets, laptops and Apple devices. Learn to safely navigate the web, protect your identity and download apps. Sessions are held on Friday afternoons at the Good Life Centre, 100 Buderim Pines Drive, and on Saturday mornings at the Meridan Plains Community Centre. Cost is $4 per session. Coast Guard Caloundra is seeking to recruit volunteers to join the Radio Team. The Radio Team provides a vital safety service to the recreational boating community, and to their own vessels. Sunshine Coast Table Tennis Club hosts Ping Pong Parkinsons at the Maroochydore State High School, Jubilee Hall, each Saturday at 9.30am. It has been proven that Table Tennis helps people with Parkinson's with coordination and other motor skills, lost through this disease.
