Our Region

The Sunshine Coast is located approximately 100 kms north of Brisbane.  At the southern end is Caloundra and the northern end Noosa.

To the west is the beautiful rural hinterland of the Glasshouse Mountains, Maleny, Montville and Kenilworth.

Beautiful surf beaches include Moffats Beach Caloundra, Alexandra Headland, Coolum and Noosa Heads.  For those seeking a gentle swim Mooloolaba, Kings Beach Caloundra and Noosa Main Beach would be for you.

Within the local government area of the Sunshine Coast Regional Council are four major centres – Maroochydore, Caloundra, Nambour and of course Buderim the home of 104.9 Sunshine FM!

Population

Historically, the Sunshine Coast has experienced high rates of population growth.  The number of residents increased from an estimated 22,500 in 1947 to just on a quarter of a million in 2001.  Population projections suggest that by 2021 the number of people enjoying the wonderful lifestyle the coast offers will have doubled.

Climate

The climate is sub-tropical with cool dry winters and warm wet summers. Summer temperatures are rarely above 30ºC or below 20ºC with cooling ocean breezes.  Beautiful one day – perfect the next!
